A year at our school
Debating
Our Marsden Road Champions debating team excelled in this year’s Premier’s Debating Challenge, competing in four intense rounds against local Liverpool schools. Throughout the competition, the team argued confidently as both the affirmative and negative, earning three consecutive wins and just one loss. An outstanding achievement for our talented debaters.
What the adjudicators said:
• “Performing on par with — or even better than — some high school teams.”
• “Could represent at a state-level competition.”
• “Creative, mature, and highly persuasive — with methodical rebuttals.”
Congratulations to our Champions team for their hard work, dedication, and remarkable growth this year.
In addition, Liyanna was successful in gaining a position on the Sydney South West Debating Team, competing at the NSW State Debating Championships. We congratulate Liyanna on this outstanding accomplishment.
Public Speaking
Congratulations to the winners of our annual Marsden Road Public Speaking Competition: Early Stage 1: Emilija, Stage 1: Theo, Stage 2: Milena, Stage 3: Liyanna
These talented students proudly represented Marsden Road PS at the Liverpool/Glenfield Public Speaking Network Finals, where Liyanna was awarded Highly Commended (runner-up) for her powerful and engaging speech.
Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition
This competition encourages students to explore multiculturalism in Australia while developing their public speaking skills and building confidence. Four students from Stage 2 and 3 - Ana, Sara, Sashe, and Heidi were selected to compete at these finals.
We proudly congratulate Sashe, who was awarded Highly Commended (runner-up) for his outstanding speech on politician and community inspiration, Dai Le.
Showcasing Best Practice
Marsden Road Public School takes great pride in the strength of its teaching practice and the excellent learning growth achieved by our students. Our evidence-based programs and consistent routines have transformed learning outcomes and attracted attention from the wider education community. In 2025, we were proud to host 362 visitors from 89 schools, along with guests from universities, parliament and research organisations. These visitors travelled from local schools, across the state, interstate and overseas, and their overwhelmingly positive feedback is affirmation of our high-impact teaching practice and reflects the outstanding culture of learning at our school.
It was truly inspiring to see the amazing work you do & I have been waxing lyrical about it since returning to school. Tracey Butler, APCI, Plunkett Street Public School
It is incredibly beneficial to witness your wonderful students and dedicated teachers in action. We were truly inspired by our visit-it was an invaluable experience for our team. Christie Walandouw, Principal, Beresfield Public School
Absolutely phenomenal! Thank you for opening your doors to share such incredible practice. It was a privilege to see firsthand the incredible learning, innovation, and commitment that is happening across your school. Katrina Smith, Principal Rel, Heckenberg Public School
We absolutely loved the visit. We’ve left feeling inspired, energised, and excited to begin shaping our own journey. Emma Hutchinson, Principal, Scarborough Public School
Senior Dance
The 2025 Senior Dance Group consisted of 20 students in years 4-6. These students worked consistently, meeting weekly to rehearse, refine and improve. This year, the dance group performed a lyrical routine to the song Shallow, by Lady Gaga at the Liverpool Arts and Film Festival and MRPS Showcase. The dance demonstrated the importance of looking inside yourself and how we are more than the reflections looking back upon us. The elegance and maturity these girls displayed on stage was truly mesmerising as they captivated their audience.
School Concert
Our School Concert was a wonderful celebration of community and creativity at Marsden Road. K–2 classes charmed the audience with delightful performances, while our junior, 3–6 and senior dance groups showcased incredible skill and confidence. The choir sang beautifully and the costumes across all items truly lit up the stage. With a sold-out matinee and evening performance, families were thrilled by the show and shared glowing feedback about how talented and terrific our students were.
Book Week Parade
Once again Marsden Road outdid itself with the wonderful costumes for book parade this year. The parade coincides with book week which this year had the theme of Book an Adventure!
From traditional fairy tales to modern classics our students, and teachers, demonstrated our love of books in a fun and very colourful way. It was very hard for the judges to choose just one winner from each class.
We'd like to thank the parents especially for the hours that went into making some of our students' more elaborate costumes, not to forget those students who made their own! We are looking forward to next year's parade to see what weird and wonderful costumes will be on parade.
"EXCEPTIONAL! Probably the best school in Australia that not only focuses on our children's education but actually teaches them to contribute to the future of Australia. I am extremely thankful to teachers and especially the principal who is running the school the way it is.”
— a proud parent of Marsden Road Public School
